I listen to the old time radio show in the both the X-Minus 1 and Dimension X series several years ago when I first got hooked on old time radio shows, but this article has the story a bit wrong.  A teenage boy starts using the "Logic" Murry's term for a computer, name Joe and hacks the network.  After the hack, then the computer starts doing what is stated in this article.

Earlier this week, Apple sent out invitations for their Let Us Loop You In Keynote on March 21 @ 1 pm EST.  It's no secret that we finally expect to see a new, updated version of the iPad Air.  However, rumors have suggested that the new iPad will now be called the iPad Pro, like its big brother, instead of following the previous iPad Air naming convention.  The new iPad is expected to contain many of the features that we saw introduced on the larger iPad Pro. These include a Smart Connector for connecting accessories, a four-speaker"stereo" design, a possible LED flash on the rear camera, and the much sought after display support for an Apple Pencil.

If you've been itching to upgrade your current iPad, and you want to sell it to have some extra cash toward a new one, there are a few items you need to take care of to prepare your device for sale. Most importantly, you will need to remove any personal data and return the iPad to its factory settings so that there is no trace of your information left behind.

Back up your iPad

Backup-iPad

Before you do anything, else make sure you have all the data on your iPad backed-up.  There are two main methods you can utilize for backing up content on your iPad–iCloud backup, or via iTunes.  It's so easy to set-up your iPad out of the box with iCloud, that most owners will probably be more comfortable with this method–especially if they decide to choose seamless overnight backups.  However, if you're undecided which way is best for you Apple has set-up a comparison of the merits of each method here.

Erase all your data

After you have confirmed that you have successfully backed up all of your data, the next step is to to erase all your data, and set your iPad as new.  This will ensure that any new owner will be starting with a clean slate.  Now open the Settings App–> then General–> Reset–> Erase All Content and Settings. You will now be prompted to enter your passcode, and further instructed to turn of Find my iPad if you haven't already. This will require you to also enter your Apple ID and Password.  A word of caution from Apple…

…you should never manually delete contacts, calendars, reminders, documents, photo streams, or any other iCloud data while signed in to your iCloud account, or this content will also be deleted from the iCloud servers and all of your iCloud devices.

After the process is complete, your iPad will be erased and removed from your account.  You will also receive notifications on your other iOS devices that use the same Apple ID that your iPad has been removed.  One word of

Options for selling your erased iPad

Nowadays, there are many ways you can sell your iPad.  Here a few of my favorites as well as a couple others I am familiar with.

  • Take to wireless carrier store for store credit or immediate cash.
  • Sell to a private owner via eBay or Craigslist.
  • Gazelle is a very quick and reliable resource that will lock in a guaranteed price quote for 30 days, giving you time to make a final decision.
  • Most Apple stores have a  Recycle your iPad for credit program.  You will either receive an Apple Gift Card or credit toward a new iPad.
  • Utilize Swappa to determine worth and selling power of you iPad

Whatever method you choose, it is nice to know that the re-sale value of the iPad is worth the small time investment it takes to acquire a down payment on the next new shiny device you want.
