That Electric Car Charging Business Thing Spreads to Massachusetts - Gizmodo

That looks like a Toyota Prius in the back ground which is a gas/electric hybrid that does not use a charging station. You fill the Prius up at the gas pump like most cars, but you'll rarely put more than 9.4 gallons in it to fill it up.

The gas engine runs only as need for acceleration power, highway driving or to charge the battery. A/C, heat etc. all run off the electric system. In town, the car primarily runs on the electric motor and gets a couple more miles to the gallon in town than on the highway. Depending on how cold out it is, that mileage is 45 to 50+ miles to the gallon on a mid size car.
