You’re going to see more of this gun in an upcoming series elsewhere, but I wanted to give the Gun Nuts faithful readers a first look at the Open Gun project I’ve been working on. This gun was built for Steel Challenge/Pro-Am shooting, so it’s designed to shoot minor PF 9mm ammo and be able to use factory length Glock mags.
Here’s a quick rundown on the components that make up the gun:
- Frame: Glock 34 frame, stippled by Southpaw Custom with Sevigny Speedway
- Lone Wolf 3.5 connector, Lone Wolf Lightweight Firing Pin, Lone Wolf reduced firing pin spring
- Lone Wolf barrel, Lone Wolf 9mm compensator
- The Mystery Mount
- C-More SlideRide
The end result of all of this is a 9mm minor Open gun that shoots flat with most factory 115 grain loads, and will shoot a 2 inch group at 25 yards like nobody’s business. I’ll have a full breakdown of what goes into the gun coming up in Rifleman Online, so you’ll get to see a lot of the little details that went into building this particular gun. Right now, the plan is to shoot this in competition while I’m shooting the Red Dot rundown, to keep my sighting systems somewhat consistent from my defensive guns to my competition guns. We should be able to start the Red Dot Rundown soon, I have a Deltapoint, a Burris, an RMR…just one more optic to go.
