National Police Shooting Championship

Fairfax, Virginia - 2012 marks the 50th Anniversary of the NRA Law Enforcement's National Police Shooting Championships. Starting back in 1962 on an outdoor range in Iowa, the competition has seen a great deal of changes over the decades. Different locations, different equipment and a wide range of competitors.

Throughout the year, we will look back on these changes with photos and stories about tournaments gone by. Above is a small sample of the people, places and techniques from decades ago ... we'll see more in good time.

To take part in the National Police Shooting Championships, you must be a law enforcement officer (retired, private security and military count) and willing to travel out to Albuquerque come September. If you're confident in your shot and looking for tips on improving your training regiment, it's well worth the trip.
