Gun Control In Space

via Gun Nuts Media by Caleb on 9/19/12

I hadn’t had the chance to actually review an FN Five-seveN before, and for good reason. I simply don’t agree with this weapon being available to Colonial citizens for good reason. We all know that’s technology no civvies should ever get to lay their hands on. This is a purpose-built weapon with no sporting applications to speak of. It is made to put down Cylons, and that’s it. William Adama of the Colonial Fleet and veteran of the first Cylon war points out that this is a gun that you do not want in the wrong, metallic hands. It comes with semi-automatic firing modes and an underbarrel grenade launcher. Its overall size places it between a handgun and submachine gun. Its assault rifle capabilities and small size make this a serious weapon that should not be taken lightly.”

We’ve all seen this weapon in the hands of our brave Colonial Marines, standing as the last vanguard between what remains of humanity and the Cylon menace. To allow this weapon in the hands of the civilian populace presents a grave danger to ever citizen of this fleet, and were that to happen I believe that President Roslin would be making a grave mistake. This is a military weapon for military purposes only.

I still believe in an individual’s right to defend themselves of course, but do our miners really need to arm themselves with military weapons? Should the workers on Cloud 9 really have to live in fear that some maniac will have one of these weapons on his person? Let’s keep these in the hands of the people that are the only ones trained enough to handle them: our troops. Let’s keep the remains of humanity safe from ourselves.
