45th Annual ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships arrive in San Antonio
Weekend of collegiate Trap and Skeet shooting begins in Texas' Alamo City
Unlike the NCAA Basketball Tournament, there will be no buzzer beaters, full court press or Sports Center highlights. We have a brand of excitement all our own.
The tournament has seen sharp growth over the past four years, steadily bringing in more and more teams just itching to shoot. This year will be no different with a jump of 21% as the field increases from 50 to 63 schools.
Additionally, 2013 may play host to some tournament history as Lindenwood University makes an attempt at their tenth consecutive title. Will they hit the even number, or will an upset from rival Bethel University leave them sitting at nine?
Lindenwood holds up nine fingers for their nine consecutive championships
Where does the National Rifle Association fit into all this, you ask? We sponsor the championships' international events and determine the year's All-American teams. And, like at any good competition, NRAblog is staked out to cover the championships, meet the new faces, check in with the favorites and maybe even get some video.
As long as the weather plays nice, we'll have plenty of clay pigeon action for you through the weekend, but don't be surprised if morning fog causes a delayed start or two.
