The Cloud Camera 5000 (DCS-5222L) from D-Link looks like it could be my new favorite surveillance camera because it offers all the features that my current favorite (Dropcam Echo) has and then some. It’s wireless, has motion detection, night vision, two-way audio, smartphone apps, motorized pan/tilt, digital zoom, 720p HD recording, microSD card slot for recording video when motion is detected, or continuously. You can then watch that recorded video through the myLink portal. As far as I know, they still do not charge anything for portal access even though they do offer email alerts. The Cloud Camera 5000 (DCS-5222L) is now available for $249.99 estimated street price at Staples, Amazon.com, Newegg.com. I need to get my hands one one of these cameras.
